KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON

I love these wall arts.

I remember my gran telling me during WWII she used to sew the military uniforms. She was born on March 1919 so she was 20 years of age at the time. She passed away this past February (2011) before her 92nd birthday. I can't even imagine all the history she had seen and experienced during her time.

Since her passing have been a great loss, I've been trying to heal from it. I try not to let things bother me. In every situation Gran always Kept Calm And Carried On and Kept Calm and Cooked On. I shall be doing the same. I miss her terribly..

Flowers and Cake Design Final project

Here's my final project from last night. White vanilla cake with home made vanilla buttercream. Would you believe underneath all that buttercream icing was a crumbled cake? We had to do the basket weave and I don't know why my buttercream was coming out so choppy. My instructor said she's had that problem before as well. Another student was also having the same issue. I think it looks fantastic! I did all of the fondant flowers within an hour before class. The weather might also be affecting the icing and fondants.

Flowers and Cake Design

I had homework today. I had to make and bring royal icing to class. I accidentally turned the power mixer on high.  Sugar was everywhere. The icing did turn out nice. I had to color it and tonight we learned how to create rose bud, daffodil, violet, primrose, apple blossom, and more roses. Tonight's class was such fun! Well, It's always fun for me.

Wilton basic course final cake project. April 2011

This is my final decorating project for course 1. My buttercream was so stiff I kept adding water to it. I need to work on my writing skills. There goes my 2 year old's little finger going for the icing. He also started poking the flowers while saying "They're beautiful mommy". He made me smile : ) He's my number 1 fan.
